Flex is at the forefront of delivery operations, owning a significant piece of our Last Mile delivery strategy at current and into the future. The Flex model utilizes independent contractors to help fulfill Ultrafast customer deliveries including Grocery and Sub same day orders and beyond. Our Finance team works closely with Tech, Product and Program Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimization of pricing, labor planning, and routing, which help improve customer quality and reduce costs.

With a rapidly expanding team and scope, we are looking for a Finance Manager who is a strategic thinker and creative problem solver to support this hyper-growth business as part of the WW Flex and DTO Finance team. This role partners with business leadership to provide strategic guidance and analytical decision making support for evaluating and prioritizing projects or initiatives. This role will work closely with cross-functional business leaders across the Last Mile organization and internal businesses allowing for future opportunities to expand scope. This role requires a self starter with strong business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail and good track record of influencing business partners. This role has regular interaction with leadership and stakeholders across Amazon and requires strong verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will need to be capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy, and hence needs to demonstrate a high degree of comfort with ambiguity besides holding a high bar on professional integrity.

Key job responsibilities:

Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout. These decisions can have global impact.

Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs and provides guidance and financial analysis for new projects and initiatives. You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.

Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.

Typical task breakdown and rhythm

  • Modeling the finance impact of a tech project
  • Meeting with the tech product managers who are responsible for the project
  • Understanding projects does and why we feel its worth scoping
  • Which metrics the team expects the project to influence
  • Understanding the hypotheses for why they feel this will be worth resources in terms of HC and dollars
  • Once the contractor understands the nature of the project and metrics they are trying to influence -> understand the input needed to model the impact of the project
  • Source those inputs through data quires
  • Most of the time they will use pre-built models but sometimes the nature of the project will require modification or creating a model from scratch
  • Be able to connect dots (if we are perusing a project like this it will impact metrics like XYZ)
  • Once the contractor has the financial output, they must be able to model and excel effectively as part of it.
  • Be able to articulate to an audience of leaders (what the key inputs and articulating how the inputs drive the outputs)

Group: The team is the Delivery Tech Org Finance team. There are two parts: Delivery Tech Org (DTO) and Flex Worldwide strategy. The HM’s team is the financial strategy team for both of those Orgs.

This candidate would serve on the Delivery Tech Org (DTO) side and what the team does for the last mile tech road map. The team investigates hardware and software tech investments to either improve delivery quality for customers or improve delivery partner productivity to cut down on costs. The team sizes the financial opportunity that each proposed project offers. They are strategic partners to help decide which projects to pursue and which ones to keep on the back burner. Then monitor that project road map and measuring whether the outcomes from those projects are in line with expected impact from those projects.
