Job Description

This dynamic role in Expense Management Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) focuses on orchestrating expense management through effective planning, forecasting, and insightful analysis. You will provide crucial decision support to business partners and leadership, delivering comprehensive insights into expense performance, drivers, and forecasts.

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will enhance financial discipline through proficient reporting, established routines, and clear communication.

This position may be filled at either the Senior Financial Analyst or Financial Planning Advisor level based on your qualifications and experience.

In this hybrid position, you will be expected to work at least 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 35-50 miles of the office locations: Madison, WI 53783 or Boston, MA 02110.

Compensation Range: $88,000.00 - $145,000.00

Your compensation may vary based on your job level and geographical location. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead expense planning and forecasting for assigned business sectors, accounting for assumptions, risks, opportunities, and alignment with targets.
  • Provide monthly reports on expense performance (actual vs. planned/forecasted), detailing variance drivers, trend analyses, and updated outlooks.
  • Support business partners by conducting scenario analyses, trade-off recommendations, and assessing financial impacts of initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain robust expense models (such as run-rate, workforce, vendor, and initiative-based models) to enhance forecast accuracy and visibility.
  • Prepare and deliver expense and performance insights to divisional leadership and support executive-level material presentation as needed.
  • Work with leaders to define and track expense KPIs/metrics, identifying opportunities for business performance improvement.
  • Enhance FP&A processes through improved data management, reporting automation, and standardized scalable routines that minimize manual work.
  • Act as a finance representative on cross-functional teams, ensuring financial implications are recognized and integrated in decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in expense planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Strong business partnership skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Advanced analytical and modeling skills; adept at working with large datasets and developing repeatable processes.
  • Familiarity with FP&A tools such as Adaptive Planning, Oracle, or Anaplan is preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel; knowledge of SQL/Python/data automation is a plus.
  • Understanding of insurance accounting/operations or Property & Casualty (P&C) expense management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer-focused solutions and support.
