Financial Systems Analyst – Workday Financials
Location: Rosemont, IL
Department: Finance Transformation
Onsite schedule: Majority onsite (4x/week)
Pay rate: $48/$60hr
Financial Analyst to support our growing Finance Transformation initiatives, with a primary focus on Workday Financials, Accounting Center, and Prism. This role plays a critical part in modernizing our financial data ecosystem, improving operational efficiency, strengthening reporting accuracy, and advancing enterprise-wide digital finance initiatives.
You will collaborate closely with Accounting, Ledger Management, Technology, and Business Operations to streamline financial processes, enhance system capabilities, and scale our Workday Financial Management platform to support the evolving needs of the bank.
Key Responsibilities
Workday Financial Management & Accounting Center
- Oversee and manage the processing of 30+ accounting data sources within the Workday Accounting Center, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely posting to the General Ledger.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance new data sources, mapping tables, and accounting schemas to support evolving business units and product lines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve transaction exceptions, data integrity issues, batch failures, and system processing breaks with minimal business disruption.
- Partner with Accounting and Technology to identify opportunities to refine accounting automation, validation rules, and workflow efficiencies.
Workday Prism Analytics & Data Lineage
- Own and maintain Prism lineages to enable seamless integrations across Workday Financials, supporting enhanced visibility, transparency, and downstream reporting accuracy.
- Design and implement custom Prism pipelines and transformations, resulting in measurable improvements—such as a 35% reduction in processing time and 25% increase in operational efficiency related to reporting and data preparation.
- Collaborate with Finance leaders to expand Prism use cases, enabling richer analytics, self-service reporting, and scalable financial insights.
FDM Governance & Ledger Management Support
- Advise the Ledger Management team on structuring, maintaining, and optimizing the Workday Financial Data Model (FDM) to support diversified operational and regulatory needs.
- Create and refine mapping tables, account posting rules, custom validations, and first-notice rules, ensuring alignment with internal controls, external audit requirements, and multi-entity accounting structures.
- Support new integrations and third‑party system connections by defining accounting rules, data governance standards, and testing frameworks.
Finance Transformation & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a Workday Financials subject-matter expert and liaison across Finance, Technology, and Business Operations teams.
- Lead process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing close processes, financial reporting, and operational scalability.
- Develop documentation, training materials, and change‑management assets to support adoption of new financial systems and processes.
- Participate in Workday enhancement cycles, including configuration reviews, UAT, release management, and adoption of new features.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 4–7+ years of experience in Financial Systems, Financial Analysis, Accounting, or Finance Transformation within banking or financial services.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Financials, including Accounting Center, Financial Data Model (FDM), Ledger, and Reporting.
- Strong experience with Prism Analytics—including building lineages, transformations, pipelines, and complex reporting datasets.
- Understanding of GAAP, multi-entity accounting, reconciliations, and financial close processes.
- Proven ability to analyze complex datasets, troubleshoot system issues, and drive process optimization.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across business, finance, and technology teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with banking products, operational accounting flows, or financial systems integrations.
- Advanced data skills: SQL, Workday Report Writer, Prism Expression Builder, or related tools.
- Demonstrated success in process automation, workflow development, or system enhancement initiatives.
- Prior involvement in Finance Transformation, digital modernization, or ERP optimization programs.
