FP&A Analyst

AVO Support
Phoenix, US
On-site

Job Description

Position: – FP&A Analyst

Reports to: CFO

Salary: $50-65K

Location: Phoenix, AZ

AVO Support provides outsourced accounting, finance, and advisory services to growing businesses that need clarity, structure, and forward-looking insight—without the overhead of a full internal finance team. We work directly with business owners and leadership teams to help them understand their numbers, plan for growth, and make better decisions.

This role is ideal for an FP&A professional who enjoys variety, client interaction, and building something alongside a founder.

Role Overview

AVO Support is hiring a entry to mid-level FP&A Analyst to support client budgeting, forecasting, and financial analytics. This is a client-facing role that works closely with the Founder/CFO and plays a key role in delivering high-quality financial insights to business owners.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining financial models, preparing forecasts and budgets, analyzing performance, and proactively identifying insights and recommendations for clients. While the Founder will lead client meetings, you will actively participate, contribute analysis, and help shape recommendations.

This is not a back-office reporting role—this position requires strong judgment, curiosity, and the confidence to propose ideas and challenge assumptions.

Key Responsibilities

Client FP&A & Financial Modeling

· Build and maintain detailed budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models for multiple client engagements

  • Develop and refine Excel-based financial models to support decision-making, scenario analysis, and growth planning
  • Leverage AI and machine learning tools to enhance financial modeling, automate data analysis, and generate actionable insights that support strategic decision-making
  • Analyze monthly performance vs. budget/forecast and identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Create clear, concise financial summaries and visuals for client review

Client Engagement & Advisory Support

  • Participate in client meetings alongside the Founder/CFO to discuss financial performance, forecasts, and strategic considerations
  • Prepare pre-meeting analysis and post-meeting follow-ups
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial business owners
  • Proactively suggest improvements, alternative scenarios, or analytical approaches for client situations

Internal & Continuous Improvement

  • Improve modeling standards, templates, and analytical processes across the firm
  • Help scale FP&A capabilities as AVO Support grows
  • Assist with internal financial analysis and forecasting for AVO Support as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality of deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • 0–5+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, consulting, or a similar analytical role preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (complex models, scenario analysis, structured modeling; Power Query a plus)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Cash flow analysis
  • Variance analysis
  • Experience working with or presenting to business owners or senior leadership
  • Ability to think critically, ask good questions, and propose thoughtful recommendations—not just execute instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses
  • Background in professional services, consulting, or outsourced finance
  • Exposure to QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems
  • Experience working in a multi-client or fast-paced environment

What Success Looks Like

  • Clients trust your analysis and rely on your insights
  • Financial models are clean, logical, and decision-ready
  • You proactively identify issues and opportunities before being asked
  • You operate with a high level of ownership and accountability
  • You grow with the firm as responsibilities expand

Growth Opportunity

As AVO Support continues to grow, this role is expected to expand in scope and responsibility, with opportunities to:

  • Take on more direct client ownership
  • Mentor junior analysts as the team grows
  • Evolve into a senior advisory or FP&A leadership role

Why AVO Support

  • Direct access to and mentorship from the Founder/CFO
  • Meaningful client impact and real decision-making exposure
  • A collaborative, high-trust environment
