Job Description

A candidate with:

  • 4–8 years experience
  • FP&A or Finance Analyst background
  • Experience supporting transformation programs
  • Strong Excel modeling skills
  • Exposure to financial forecasting
  • Comfortable working with leadership and PMOs

Technical Expectations (VERY Important)

Excel = Critical

This is probably the #1 screening factor.

The client expects:

  • Pivot tables
  • XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
  • SUMIFS
  • Financial models
  • Forecast trackers
  • Large datasets
  • Variance reports
  • Dashboarding
  • Scenario analysis

If someone says only “basic Excel,” they will likely get rejected.

Power BI / Power Query

These are “nice to have,” but realistically:

  • candidates with reporting/dashboard exposure will stand out
  • automation mindset helps

Especially useful if candidate:

  • built finance dashboards
  • automated reporting
  • handled large finance datasets

Soft Skills They Care About

The role is highly cross-functional.

Candidate must be able to:

  • work with HR teams
  • interact with PMOs
  • speak with leadership
  • explain financial impact clearly
  • manage ambiguity
  • track multiple moving pieces

So communication skills matter a lot.

What the Client is ACTUALLY Measuring

The client wants someone who can answer questions like:

  • “Did this transformation save the money we expected?”
  • “Are restructuring costs correctly tracked?”
  • “Why are savings lower than forecast?”
  • “What financial risks exist next quarter?”
  • “How many transitioned resources are complete?”
  • “Are investments aligned to business case approvals?”

This is why business case analysis and forecasting experience are critical.

Keywords That Will Attract the Client

Strong resumes should contain terms like:

  • FP&A
  • Financial forecasting
  • Budgeting
  • Variance analysis
  • Business case analysis
  • Cost optimization
  • Workforce planning
  • Restructuring costs
  • Headcount tracking
  • Savings realization
  • Financial modeling
  • PMO finance support
  • Transformation finance
  • Opex/Capex analysis
  • Management reporting
