ABOUT NEXTSTEP

NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact. On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are currently looking for an FP&A Manager to join their team.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a PE-backed multi-channel retail group headquartered in London, operating over 200 locations across the UK alongside a rapidly growing e-commerce business. With revenues approaching £500m and an active buy-and-build strategy, the business is investing in its Finance function ahead of a potential exit or further capital raise within the next 24 months. The CFO is building out a best-in-class FP&A team to improve planning rigour and commercial decision support.

THE ROLE

As FP&A Manager, you will lead the group's financial planning and analysis function, owning the budgeting and forecasting cycle, building business-wide financial models, and providing commercial insight that supports decision-making at the highest level. You will work directly with the CFO and senior business leaders and will have a team of two analysts reporting to you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the annual budget and monthly rolling forecast processes, coordinating inputs from across the business and consolidating into a group view.
  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models that support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and board reporting packs, with clear commentary on variances and trading performance.
  • Partner with commercial and operational leaders to provide financial challenge, support, and insight on key business decisions.
  • Lead the FP&A team's development, including process automation and improvements to reporting tools and dashboards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5–8 years of experience in FP&A, financial modelling, or commercial finance, ideally within a retail, consumer, or multi-site business.
  • Excellent financial modelling skills, including advanced Excel as a minimum, with Power BI, Anaplan, or Adaptive Insights experience as a strong plus.
  • Strong commercial acumen, able to connect financial performance to operational drivers and tell a compelling story with numbers.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable presenting to the CFO and ExCo level.
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent) preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Base salary of £75,000 – £95,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Pension contribution above market rate.
  • Private health cover, 27 days holiday, and hybrid working from London.
