The electrical engineering department at USD is part of the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering (SMSE), which is ranked by U.S. News in the top 15 of non-doctoral engineering schools. The department offers undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and consists of faculty who are devoted, challenging and inspiring students to learn the technical skills in electronics, embedded systems, power and communications. The mission of the school is to provide graduates with the perspective, social awareness and leadership skills necessary for becoming changemaking engineers. The department intends to introduce a new concentration in Intelligent Systems in the future.

Detailed Description:
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of San Diego (USD) invites applications for a nine-month contract teaching faculty position to provide in person instruction to begin September 1, 2026. There is a possibility of a renewal of the contract after the first year. This position is a full benefits-based position and requires face-to-face student instruction.
Candidates from all areas of specialization will be considered. Immediate instructional needs include but are not limited to: electromechanical systems, circuits, electronics, embedded systems, electrical power, digital design, signals and systems, electromagnetics, microwave engineering and communications. In addition to some of these areas, the department is also interested in candidates who have a background or interest in intelligent systems.
Selected candidate will be expected to teach courses equivalent to 9 - 12 units per semester.
This is a full-time/temporary, benefit-based/position with an anticipated end date of August 31, 2027. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.
