Position OverviewThe Industrial Engineer will serve as a core member of GTI’s Supplier Development Tiger Team, supporting joint venture operations in Mexico and Vietnam. This role focuses on manufacturing process optimization, production system standardization, quality improvement, and operational performance alignment with GTI standards. The Industrial Engineer will assess supplier production environments, identify inefficiencies, implement process improvements, and drive measurable gains in throughput, quality, cost control, and delivery performance. This is a hands-on operational engineering role focused on strengthening manufacturing execution and supplier capability

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Development & Operational Assessment

Conduct structured evaluations of supplier manufacturing processes, production workflows, labor efficiency, and material flow. Identify gaps between current-state performance and GTI operational standards. Develop actionable improvement plans with clear milestones and measurable outcomes. Support supplier readiness for new product introductions and production scale-up initiatives.

Process Optimization & Lean Implementation

Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency, reduce waste, and stabilize production systems. Lead Kaizen events, value stream mapping exercises, and root cause analysis initiatives. Standardize work instructions and process documentation to drive repeatability and quality control. Implement visual management systems and production tracking tools to improve performance transparency.

Quality & Performance Improvement

Partner with supplier quality teams to reduce defect rates and improve first-pass yield. Support implementation of corrective and preventive action systems. Analyze production data to identify trends and systemic performance issues. Develop performance dashboards and KPIs to monitor throughput, cycle time, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery.

Manufacturing Readiness & Process Control

Support joint venture facilities in achieving stable, production-ready manufacturing systems aligned with GTI engineering and operational requirements. Evaluate tooling, fixtures, and process control mechanisms to ensure repeatable outcomes. Assist with process validation activities and production ramp stabilization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations leaders to ensure alignment between supplier capabilities and GTI product requirements. Provide structured reporting to leadership regarding supplier performance, risk mitigation efforts, and improvement progress.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or supplier development roles. Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and root cause analysis. Advanced proficiency in Excel including data modeling, pivot tables, and performance tracking. Experience working in fabrication, assembly, or industrial manufacturing environments. Ability to evaluate production systems and implement structured improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting international suppliers or joint venture operations. Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing data environments. Exposure to high-mix, engineered-to-order manufacturing. Experience in energy, defense, or industrial infrastructure manufacturing environments.
