Join Guardian as the Head of Business Risk & Resiliency for our Individual Markets. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of executing our robust Risk & Resiliency frameworks for Financial Protection & Retirement Solutions (FPRS) and Client Solutions & Wealth Management (CSWM). Your leadership will shape the operational risk profile of these businesses, ensuring all risks—including Technology, Cyber, Data, Model, Compliance, and Third Party—are well-managed within Guardian's defined risk appetite.
Your Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to FPRS and CSWM leadership, facilitating Risk Working Groups to enhance transparency and accountability, and escalate important topics to relevant risk committees as necessary.
- Evaluate and assess key risks across business processes, ensuring visibility and collaboration with process owners and risk control partners on critical action items.
- Lead the execution of the Business Resiliency framework through the development of business continuity plans and conducting regular tests to manage disaster recovery and crisis management initiatives.
- Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the Risk Register (ServiceNow) for FPRS and CSWM, ensuring high data quality and promoting self-reporting of risks.
- Consolidate risk data from all domains to maintain an aggregated view of the residual risk profile and identify significant risk trends to inform governance discussions.
- Coordinate various risk activities like issues, events, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and stress scenarios to ensure consistent linkage and escalation across domains.
- Foster a risk-aware culture, empowering first-line ownership of risks while partnering with Business Risk Coordinators to uphold consistent standards in risk identification and resolution.

- 5+ years of experience in operational risk management or a related field, preferably within the financial services or insurance sectors.

- A track record of driving impactful change and leadership.
Reporting Structure:
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Business Risk & Resiliency, who reports to the Chief Risk Officer within Enterprise Risk Management.
Location:
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in one of our Guardian offices located in Hudson Yards, NYC; Holmdel, NJ; Stamford CT; Bethlehem PA; Boston, MA; or Pittsfield, MA, with 2 days of remote work.
Salary Range:
$132,420.00 - $217,545.00. The salary for this position will be determined based on the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, and abilities. Additional compensation such as annual bonuses may also apply.
