The agency is currently seeking a Risk Management Specialist II to join its Risk & Security Management Department in Austin, Texas. This position involves moderately complex, journey-level work focused on implementing risk management programs, ensuring compliance, and supporting statewide safety initiatives.
Who You Will Work With:
You will be part of a collaborative and detail-oriented team that values problem-solving, initiative, and strong organizational skills. The role requires close coordination with internal departments to support risk mitigation and compliance efforts across the agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, and implementing statewide risk management initiatives
Conduct compliance reviews for required postings and regulatory bulletins
Support risk assessment programs and related evaluations
Develop, implement, and review risk management policies and procedures
Assist with incident reporting and risk mitigation analysis
Review agency programs for compliance with state laws and internal policies
Conduct on-site facility inspections to identify hazards and potential risks
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
At least 2 years of full-time experience in risk management, safety programs, loss control, workers’ compensation, or information security
Relevant academic coursework or credits may be applied toward experience requirements
Preferred Skills & Knowledge:
Understanding of laws, regulations, and best practices related to risk management and compliance
Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop practical solutions
Strong skills in policy development, evaluation, and interpretation
Familiarity with program management processes and procedures
Prior experience in a state or government agency environment is highly desirable
