Quality and Risk Manager - Independence

The Opportunity

As part of our US Independence Risk and Controls team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting regulatory matters and independence monitoring. Your work will involve contributing to the audit quality review program and other crucial independence monitoring activities. You will provide insightful technical analysis on whether engagement teams adhere to EY's independence policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. Utilize your technical knowledge and risk management expertise to address independence and risk management issues, collaborating with executive-level personnel across the Americas and other Global functions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage your technical expertise to identify and communicate policy and procedure matters, violations, and concerns.
  • Engage with Americas Independence executives and local leaders to reach consensus on issues and proposed actions.
  • Suggest improvements to processes and develop inventive approaches for compliance with independence requirements.
  • Manage relationships across the functional and business spectrum to exceed expectations through clear communication and understanding stakeholder needs.
  • Stay informed about EY policies and regulations, ensuring comprehensive knowledge of related Risk Management areas.
  • Deliver training presentations to communicate new developments and impacts to team members.
  • Build a robust network within the team and across the firm through regular interactions.
  • Identify and assess key issues and risks related to firm independence, including business relationships and engagement-level procedures.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Utilize your client service experience to drive the development of Independence policy and procedure.
  • Deep understanding of independence regulations and firm policies, along with knowledge of broader Risk Management areas.

  • Strong project management skills for handling multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Strategic thinking ability to navigate complex concepts.

To Qualify, You Must Have

  • 7+ years of related work experience, including external audit experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

  • Knowledge and experience in Independence-related policies and regulations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment when analyzing complex issues and risks.
  • Previous experience with a Big 4 or large accounting firm.

What We Offer You

We provide a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that acknowledges your contributions to the business. The base salary for this role ranges from $96,300 to $180,100 across all US geographic locations, with higher ranges for specific areas such as New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California. Recognized performance and value brought to the business will be rewarded accordingly.
