Industrial Engineer Intern role supporting production efficiency and lean manufacturing at Great Dane, a leader in transportation solutions.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Assist with time studies, labor analysis, and productivity evaluations.
- Support line balancing, workflow optimization, and capacity analysis activities.
- Participate in plant layout and material flow improvement projects.
- Assist with development and documentation of standard work processes.
- Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Assist with ergonomic assessments and safety improvement projects.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams with operations and engineering.
- Support staffing analysis or manpower planning initiatives.
- Assist in new product development projects, including time studies and benchmarking.
- Ideate production line improvement opportunities for new products.
- Assist in competitive analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
What you'll need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems preferred.
- Manufacturing awareness with welding, sheet metal, assembly processes, and tolerances is valuable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and ability to work independently and with others.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
