Job Description

Industrial Engineer Intern role supporting production efficiency and lean manufacturing at Great Dane, a leader in transportation solutions.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Assist with time studies, labor analysis, and productivity evaluations.
  • Support line balancing, workflow optimization, and capacity analysis activities.
  • Participate in plant layout and material flow improvement projects.
  • Assist with development and documentation of standard work processes.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Assist with ergonomic assessments and safety improvement projects.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams with operations and engineering.
  • Support staffing analysis or manpower planning initiatives.
  • Assist in new product development projects, including time studies and benchmarking.
  • Ideate production line improvement opportunities for new products.
  • Assist in competitive analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

What you'll need:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems preferred.
  • Manufacturing awareness with welding, sheet metal, assembly processes, and tolerances is valuable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and ability to work independently and with others.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
