Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking an Industrial Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This is a fully on-site position. Relocation benefits are not available.

The Successful Candidate

  • Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Simulation Modeling:

Develop, configure, and validate discrete event simulation models using FlexSim to analyze and optimize complex operations, workflows, and production systems. Interpret simulation results and generate insights to support business decisions, including capacity planning, resource allocation, and process redesign. Continuously update and maintain simulation models to reflect changes in processes, technologies, and operational requirements. Train team members on the use of simulation tools and methodologies to foster adoption within the organization.

  • Data Analysis & Process Evaluation:

Collect and analyze process performance data, conducting time studies, process flow analyses, and bottleneck identification to pinpoint inefficiencies. Use statistical tools, Lean principles, and Six Sigma methodologies to evaluate and improve processes.

  • Process Improvement:

Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety through process reengineering, automation, and process streamlining. Partner with stakeholders across engineering, operations, supply chain, and other teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions. Apply Lean and Six Sigma techniques to drive waste reduction and improve process standardization.

  • Project Management:

Manage improvement projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives, project timelines, and budgets. Present findings, solutions, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

  • Technical Expertise:

Stay current with emerging simulation technologies, industry trends, and best practices in industrial engineering and operational optimization. Develop tools and procedures to facilitate simulation adoption and support continuous improvement projects.

  • Collaboration:

Work closely with stakeholders across all levels of the organization to understand challenges, capture requirements, and communicate technical results in clear, actionable ways.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering +2 years of relevant experience OR Masters Degree + 0 years of experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Experience generating metrics reports using Tableau and other reporting tools
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data to improve efficiencies
  • Proficient use of the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD security clearance of Secret or above
  • Bachelors in Industrial, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Familiarity with FlexSim or similar software
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in production facilities
  • Experience with cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and/or production record systems

We work a 9/80 schedule (9 hours per day Mon-Thurs, 8 hours every other Friday with the alternate Friday off)
