Role Summary
- Lead the Industrial Engineering (IE) function at our China plant to optimize production systems, enhance productivity and support business growth.
- Balance cost, quality, delivery and safety by driving lean transformation, line design and data-driven continuous improvement.
- Act as a key partner to Operations, R&D, Quality and Commercial teams in RFQ, NPI and mass production phases, ensuring competitive and sustainable manufacturing solutions.
- Report to the Operation Director or Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute lean manufacturing initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, SMED) to eliminate waste and optimize material and information flow across the plant.
- Monitor and improve key operational KPIs including OEE, JPH, throughput, direct labor productivity and scrap rates.
- Establish, standardize and maintain work instructions, Bills of Processes and line balancing to ensure stable, repeatable and compliant production.
- Own factory layout design and optimization using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to improve space utilization, ergonomics and flow.
- Plan and drive CAPEX projects related to automation (robotic cells, AGVs, conveyors), including feasibility studies, ROI analysis and implementation follow-up.
- Perform capacity modeling, scenario planning and headcount modeling based on demand forecasts.
- Set up and maintain engineered labor standards (Time Study, MOST/MTM or similar) for accurate performance measurement and labor cost control.
- Use data analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, advanced Excel) to analyze production trends and present actionable insights to management.
- Collaborate with R&D and Quality on NPI to ensure Design for Manufacturability and smooth ramp-up to mass production.
- Lead PFMEA and related risk-mitigation activities for new and existing processes.
- Work with Sales & Marketing to provide accurate, competitive direct labor cost input for new business quotations.
- Recruit, develop and coach a team of Industrial Engineers and technicians; reorganize IE resources and responsibilities to maximize team strengths.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, problem-solving and data-driven decision-making across the IE function and the shop floor.
Ideal Candidates
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline; Master’s degree is an advantage.
- 5-10 years of Industrial Engineering experience in manufacturing, including 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Solid technical grounding in core IE disciplines (line balancing, work measurement, methods improvement, layout design, capacity planning).
- Strong exposure to EMS manufacturing, ideally including PCB/PCBA or related electronics processes.
- Proven track record in turning around or upgrading an IE function and improving efficiency and performance.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks; experience with ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MES platforms.
- Hands-on experience with time studies and MOST/MTM or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, root-cause analysis).
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate technical solutions clearly and pragmatically.
- Solid project management skills to manage multiple improvement and CAPEX projects.
