Job Title: Information System Engineer

Locations: US - Houston, TX

Reports to: Sr. Manager, IT Infrastructure

A quick snapshot...

The Information System Engineer is responsible for the deployment and support of IT infrastructure, systems, application software and network services. This holder provides complex technical support to ensure application, infrastructure and system availability. The role includes problem diagnosis and resolution with activities comprising of requirement analysis, testing, integrating and managing components and applications. The role holder may also specialize in individual areas of responsibility where they may be the subject matter expert having greater responsibility and focus in these areas.

By proactively managing systems and infrastructure, responding effectively to incidents, and ensuring compliance with internal IT strategy, security, and regulatory standards, the System Engineer directly enables business continuity and future growth.

Here's what we're looking for...

  • Proactively maintain and manage the technologies and platforms for the area responsible.
  • Design, Document and Implement solutions as required.
  • Provide support and escalation in response to issues as required by the business, potentially including out of business hours, ensuring SLA and resolution times are adhered to and correct escalation paths are appropriately followed.
  • Accurately log and document changes and work in the appropriate systems.
  • Impact assesses work and changes to ensure minimum impact to not only the platforms you are responsible for but any platforms or business processes which interact with your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure any work undertaken is in line with the Internal IT Strategy and in compliance with company, security and regulatory standards.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc or project tasks required by the business or in line with the overall IT strategy.
  • To maintain equipment and software inventory and liaise with Asset Management teams.
  • Ensuring policies and processes are adhered to while also maintaining the appropriate urgency to a piece of work.
  • Evaluating and balancing priorities to ensure work is completed on a business impact/benefit basis.
  • To keep up to speed with emerging technologies and developments both within group and externally within their field of expertise.
  • Share, and encourage the sharing of, technical knowledge across the company.
  • Occasional travel may also be required between offices.
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
  • Communications: concisely deliver the appropriate information to the right audience.
  • Must work well in a distributed team environment

Here's what will give you an edge...

  • 3+ years of experience or relevant technical training in one or more of the following:
  • Identity Management (Permissions, Policies, Authentication/ Replication)
  • Collaboration tools (Email, Messaging, etc)
  • Microsoft Server and Windows OS
  • Networking Skills (VPN, DHCP, Wireless)
  • Device Management tools (Intune, Jamf, Patch Management)
  • Experience of working within an enterprise environment with remote disparate users on a global scale.
  • Understanding of device deployment processes. Familiar with Apple MAC devices.
  • Understanding of IP networking as it relates to local area and wide area networks.
  • Experience with cloud platforms Azure, Microsoft 365, AWS.
  • Understanding of security technologies and best practices.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and an ability to work
