Job Description

The Opportunity

Our Energy & Process subsector, part of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources & Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast—delivering projects ranging from small facilities to integrated megaprojects across upstream, midstream, downstream, and emerging energy‑transition markets. Our work strengthens climate adaptation, protects biodiversity, advances low‑carbon solutions, and supports the responsible use of water and marine environments.

Join us as an Instrumentation Technologist and you'll be part of a team supporting the design of complex instrumentation systems used in natural gas pipeline compressor stations, refrigeration plants, oil pump stations, and related industrial facilities in power generation. This is your chance to work alongside passionate experts and contribute to projects that help our clients solve complex challenges and shape a more sustainable future.

Your Impact

  • Develop and maintain P&IDs across all project phases, ensuring process control strategies are accurately represented.
  • Build and update instrumentation indexes and datasheets to support clear, accurate engineering and procurement.
  • Provide technical support throughout E&I design development, helping resolve challenges and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Contribute to TIC cost estimates and engineering/design hour forecasts that inform project planning.
  • Prepare, verify, and assemble engineering calculations, specifications, and requisition packages for project issuance.
  • Select instrumentation equipment aligned with client standards and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to verify compliance with specifications and project expectations.
  • Lead technical bid evaluations and develop recommendations that support sound procurement decisions.
  • Review vendor documentation to confirm alignment with design, safety, and operational requirements.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • A technical diploma in instrumentation, electrical engineering technology, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar instrumentation-focused role, ideally within consulting or industrial project environments.
  • Strong understanding of E&I installation requirements and constructability considerations.
  • Experience supporting heavy industrial projects; oil & gas involvement is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with 3D CADD tools is an advantage.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to support complex technical deliverables.

Compensation

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500
  • MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
