The Investment Analyst is responsible for the valuations of the funds in the fund manager’s portfolio. This involves obtaining independent monthly valuations for each of the funds and
reconciling these to ensure the valuation is correct. This consists of analysing the profit / loss on investments, fund expenses, subscriptions and redemptions and using fund accounting
knowledge to perform the calculations.
The Investment Analyst communicates the determined share prices of the funds to third-party subscribers as well as updates internal financial models with the latest data. Analyst pay
close attention to values that are outside of standard deviations and analysis is performed on these values to determine the factors that cause them.
The Investment Analyst records all the transactions for each month in the company’s database. The Analyst can then use such data to calculate fees due to counterparties. This includes
broker fees which are prepared on an individual basis. The Analyst will prepare monthly commission statements for each broker.
The Investment Analyst acts as the point of contact between the company and the fund administrator. The Analyst must verify and sign-off on transaction receipts and dealing information
from the fund administrator.
The Investment Analyst researches macro-economic activity and develops assumptions for future forecasting. The Analyst calculates fund correlations so underlying investments can be
adjusted to optimise the fund performance. The Investment Analyst also carries out research on Hedge Fund Managers and performs analysis on their funds to identify potential future
investments. This research is monitored and updated when sufficient changes occur. The Investment Analyst builds relationships with Hedge Fund Managers to maintain the company’s
reputation.
The Investment Analyst prepares marketing information which is used in potential investor meetings. This includes performing data analysis on the funds and creating reports and
presentations on fund performance. The Analyst updates all data on the company’s website and also in weekly updates that are sent to investors.
The Investment Analyst ensures compliance is maintained and monitors regulation changes so that the funds and company are aligned with legal and ethical principles.
