About the Firm

River Cove Capital is an entrepreneurial investment firm focused on acquiring and operating a single small-to-medium-sized business. The firm is actively sourcing acquisition opportunities across fragmented industries, with a focus on durable, cash-flowing businesses.

This is a unique opportunity to work directly with the founder in a hands‑on, high‑impact role across deal sourcing, evaluation, and execution.

Role Overview

As a Search Fund Intern, you will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and engaging with potential acquisition targets. This is not a typical internship—you will gain direct exposure to private equity, entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA), and small business M&A.

You will work closely with the founder on live deals and help build the pipeline of companies that could ultimately become the platform business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and research potential acquisition targets across industries
  • Build and manage target lists using tools like LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, and Google
  • Conduct outbound email and phone outreach to business owners and brokers
  • Track outreach efforts and responses in CRM systems

Market Research & Industry Analysis

  • Analyze industries to identify attractive sectors for acquisition
  • Evaluate market size, competition, growth trends, and fragmentation
  • Prepare industry briefs and investment memos

Financial & Business Analysis

  • Review financial statements and CIMs (Confidential Information Memorandums)
  • Identify key risks and diligences questions

Deal Execution Support

  • Prepare materials for investor updates and presentations
  • Take notes on calls with brokers, owners, and advisors

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct exposure to private equity and M&A
  • Experience sourcing and evaluating real acquisition opportunities
  • Mentorship from a founder actively buying a business
  • A front‑row seat to the full lifecycle of a deal
  • Strong preparation for careers in private equity, investment banking, or entrepreneurship
