Healthcare Investment Banking Associate (M&A Focus)Location: Chicago, ILOverviewThe firm is seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Associate to join its Healthcare group in Chicago, with a primary focus on Mergers & Acquisitions. The Associate will play an integral role in the execution of complex M&A transactions, advising corporate clients, private equity sponsors, and founder-led businesses across the healthcare sector, including healthcare services, life sciences, medical devices, and HCIT.This role offers meaningful deal execution responsibility, significant exposure to senior bankers and clients, and the opportunity to develop deep sector expertise in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSupports and leads day-to-day execution of sell-side and buy-side M&A transactionsBuilds and reviews detailed financial models, including operating models, LBO analyses, and merger modelsPerforms valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable companies, and precedent transactionsPrepares confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, buyer lists, and other transaction materialsManages due diligence processes, including coordination of data rooms and third-party advisors (legal, accounting, etc.)Interfaces directly with clients, financial sponsors, and counterparties throughout the transaction lifecycleAssists in negotiation processes and supports senior bankers during key stages of deal executionOversees Analysts, providing guidance on financial modeling, analysis, and deliverablesQualifications2-5 years of relevant M&A experience in investment banking or transaction advisoryHealthcare sector experience preferred, particularly in healthcare services, life sciences, or medical technologyStrong financial modeling and valuation skillset with experience building fully integrated modelsAdvanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPointAbility to manage multiple concurrent M&A processes in a fast-paced environmentExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsHigh attention to detail and strong work ethicBachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent is a plusPreferred AttributesStrong interest in healthcare industry trends, including consolidation dynamics, reimbursement models, and regulatory considerationsExperience working with private equity clients and founder-owned businessesDemonstrated ability to take ownership of workstreams and drive executionStrong interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively in a client-facing roleTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to mentor and develop junior professionals
