Selby Jennings is partnering with a Middle Market investment banking firm to recruit an Investment Banking Associate for its Sports, Media, and Entertainment group based in Los Angeles. This role offers hands‑on involvement in M&A and strategic advisory transactions across content‑driven, sports‑related, and media businesses. The Associate will work closely with senior bankers in lean teams, taking significant responsibility throughout the transaction lifecycle in a collaborative, execution‑focused environment. ResponsibilitiesExecute sell‑side and buy‑side M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory assignments.Build and maintain financial models, including operating models, valuations, and transaction analyses.Prepare client materials such as pitch books, CIMs, management presentations, and financial analyses.Conduct industry and company research to support strategic positioning and transaction execution.Perform valuation work using DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses.Coordinate diligence processes, data rooms, and timelines across multiple live engagements.Review and mentor Analysts, ensuring high standards of analysis and presentation.QualificationsBachelor's degree with strong academic performance.Typically 2-5+ years of investment banking experience with demonstrated transaction execution and modeling expertise.Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting to senior stakeholders.Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.FINRA Series 79 and Series 63 licenses, or ability to obtain them.Preferred ExperienceExposure to Sports, Media, Entertainment, or adjacent sectors is a plus.Sell‑side M&A experience and comfort working in small, execution‑oriented deal teams.Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
