Our client within investment management requires an Investment Operations Analyst to join their team. The Investment Operations Analyst supports the investment management and trading functions by maintaining portfolio data, preparing trade instructions, managing cash movements, and ensuring accurate reporting across client accounts.
Responsibilities :
Portfolio & Holdings Management
- Maintain and update firm-wide portfolio holdings using internal systems and market data
- Generate daily holdings reports and ensure accurate data flow across systems
- Update master tracking files and support model/portfolio changes
Trading & Cash Management
- Prepare trade instructions for ad hoc and scheduled client transactions (withdrawals, deposits, transfers)
- Calculate required cash levels and determine securities to be bought/sold with Portfolio Managers
- Support rebalancing and bulk trading activities
- Communicate clear trade instructions to Head Trader
Reconciliation & Reporting
- Perform account and fund reconciliations with custodians
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure data accuracy
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting (performance, attribution, compliance)
- Support pre-month-end reviews and internal controls
- Data Management & Analysis
- Analyze and manipulate portfolio data using Excel
- Integrate data from multiple systems and ensure consistency
- Maintain accuracy across reporting tools and templates
Weekly Investment Team Meetings
- Prepare and distribute weekly meeting agenda and supporting materials
- Track and report on action items from prior meetings; ensure follow-ups are completed or reassigned
- Present analysis of key portfolio holdings, including performance, weightings, and risk considerations
- Support review of new investment ideas and proposed portfolio changes
- Assist with compliance and model reviews, including mandate alignment and drift monitoring
- Prepare and review cash reports to highlight excess cash and funding needs
Operations Support
- Assist with daily performance reporting and benchmark updates
- Support CIO, Portfolio Manager & Trader
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation
Qualifications:
- Advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis and macros)
- Experience with portfolio management systems (e.g., NDEX)
- Familiarity with bank custodians and reconciliation processes (knowledge of NBIN/BMO preferred)
- Working experience of Bloomberg is essential
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Solid understanding of investment products and portfolio operations
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance or economics.
- CFA charter holder or working towards it is preferred.
