Job Description

About Craft

CraftPod is a FINRA-approved 721 exchange fund. Founders and concentrated stockholders contribute appreciated equity tax-deferred and receive diversification, a 6% targeted annual yield, and access to a fleet of Bombardier Challenger 350 business jets. Pod Securities, our affiliated broker-dealer, handles placement under Reg D 506(c).

The role

This is a founding investments seat. You won't be inheriting a portfolio — you'll be designing one. We're looking for someone who has seen how exchange fund engines are actually built and run, and wants to architect ours from the ground up: the portfolio construction methodology, the hedging framework, the qualifying asset model, and the operational playbook that turns it all into a product an RIA can underwrite.

You'll report to the CEO, sit on the Investment Committee, and partner with Pod Securities to translate the investment design into something the distribution channel can sell.

What you'll build

  • Portfolio construction methodology. The underwriting framework for contributed equity — concentration limits, sector caps, basis distribution, position sizing against the diversification test. The rulebook the IC will use for every contribution we ever take.
  • Hedging architecture. The program for prepaid equity collars and related derivatives across the contributed book. Counterparty framework, tenor logic, roll cadence, hedge accounting treatment.
  • Qualifying asset model. The ongoing 80/20 framework that integrates the aircraft sleeve with the equity sleeve, including the rebalancing logic across closes.
  • Vintage and closing cadence. The mechanics for bimonthly closes, successor pods, and the path to longer-dated vehicles and 351 conversions.
  • Distribution-ready investment materials. The IC memos, exposure reports, and investment policy that the advisor channel needs to put us through diligence — and the underlying data model that produces them.
  • The investment team. You'll be the first investments hire and will build the team underneath you as AUM scales.

Who we're looking for

You have likely spent time at a firm that runs exchange funds, concentrated equity solutions, or single-stock risk management at scale — a Parametric / Eaton Vance, Goldman PWM, Morgan Stanley GIM, JPM Private Bank, Bernstein, or peer. You don't need to have been the most senior person there. You need to have been close enough to the engine to know how it actually works — and you need to want to build the next one.

Required

  • 7+ years in concentrated equity solutions, exchange funds, or single-stock risk management
  • Direct working experience inside an exchange fund or comparable structure — you've seen the diversification test, the contribution intake, and the hedging book up close
  • Working fluency with §721, the 80/20 qualifying asset test, and §351
  • Hands-on derivatives experience: prepaid equity collars, variable prepaid forwards, listed options
  • A track record of designing or substantially redesigning a process — not just operating one
  • Comfort working directly with distribution: the ability to translate an investment framework into language an advisor or family office can underwrite

Preferred

  • CFA charterholder
  • Series 7, 65, or 66 (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience launching a fund or a new vintage from scratch
  • Exposure to real assets, yield-overlay products, or private aviation

Compensation

  • Competitive base, calibrated to a founding seat
  • Uncapped performance bonus tied to AUM growth and net investor outcomes
  • Meaningful CraftPod equity with milestone vesting
  • Health, dental, vision, 401(k)
  • Fleet access at internal rates

How to apply

Apply on LinkedIn with your resume. In your message, include:

  • The most interesting concentrated position or portfolio you've ever worked on, and what you learned from it.
  • The single design decision you would most want to revisit if you were rebuilding an exchange fund from scratch — three sentences or fewer.

We read every application.
