Key Responsibilities

The IT Portfolio Manager is responsible for planning, prioritizing, and governing the organization’s IT investment portfolio. This role ensures that IT initiatives are aligned to business strategy, deliver measurable value, and are balanced across run, grow, and transform priorities. The IT Portfolio Manager works closely with business leaders, IT leadership, and finance to provide transparency into demand, cost, value, and risk across all IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy & Alignment

  • Own and manage the enterprise IT portfolio, covering applications, infrastructure, data, and digital initiatives.
  • Ensure IT investments align with business strategy, CIO priorities, and enterprise goals.
  • Translate business demand into a structured, prioritized portfolio roadmap.

Investment Planning & Prioritization

  • Lead intake, evaluation, and prioritization of IT initiatives using agreed value, cost, risk, and capacity criteria.
  • Partner with finance to support annual planning, budgeting, and multi-year investment planning.
  • Balance the portfolio across regulatory, operational, and innovation initiatives.

Governance & Decision Support

  • Define and operate portfolio governance processes, forums, and decision frameworks.
  • Prepare executive-ready portfolio views (dashboards, scorecards, and summaries).
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to leadership on start, stop, continue, or pivot decisions.

Financial & Value Management

  • Track portfolio-level spend, forecasts, and benefits realization.
  • Monitor value delivery against approved business cases.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize cost, eliminate duplication, and improve return on investment.

Demand & Capacity Management

  • Work with engineering, application owners, and delivery teams to understand capacity and constraints.
  • Align approved demand with available funding and delivery capacity.
  • Flag conflicts, risks, and bottlenecks early and propose trade-off options.

Reporting & Transparency

  • Deliver regular portfolio health reports covering scope, cost, schedule, value, and risk.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for portfolio data.
  • Support CIO, SLT, and executive reviews with clear insights and recommendations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Mature portfolio management practices, tools, and metrics over time.
  • Introduce standard definitions, lifecycle stages, and performance indicators.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT, program management, PMO, or portfolio management roles.
  • Strong understanding of IT delivery models, application lifecycles, and enterprise platforms.
  • Proven ability to work with senior leaders and influence decisions.
  • Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and business case development.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Certification such as PMP, PgMP, SAFe LPM, or ITIL is a plus.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
