Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Junior Energy Derivatives Broker / Desk Analyst, primarily based in Miami, FL, with some work-from-home flexibility once training and workflow are established.

This is not a traditional large-bank analyst program. The role is entrepreneurial, high pressure, and designed for someone who wants direct exposure to live markets, clients, and real commercial responsibility from day one.

You will work closely with senior brokers supporting OTC trading activity across crude oil, products, swaps, futures, and options markets. Responsibilities include market preparation, execution support, client coverage, market research, and helping improve the overall efficiency of the desk.

The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a revenue-producing broker role over time.

Responsibilities

• Support daily OTC brokerage activity across crude oil, refined products, swaps, futures, and derivatives markets
• Assist senior brokers with trade execution flow, pricing support, and client coverage
• Prepare market updates, pricing sheets, and client-ready market commentary
• Analyze commodity markets, market structure, spreads, volatility, and macro developments
• Help develop and support client hedging strategies and risk management solutions
• Maintain client notes, follow-up discipline, and relationship mapping
• Perform market research and identify commercial opportunities across the desk
• Handle trade logging, administrative follow-up, and operational support
• Learn broker workflow, product structure, and client communication standards
• Prepare for and obtain Series 3 licensing (required)

Qualifications

• Knowledge of swaps, futures trading, and commodity market structure
• Understanding of energy markets, including crude oil, refined products, and broader commodity trading dynamics
• Familiarity with hedging strategies and risk management methodologies
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial and market data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized, proactive, and able to create value without constant direction
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment
• Strong work ethic and high personal accountability
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
• Previous experience in energy, commodities, trading, brokerage, banking, or capital markets is a strong advantage

Location

Miami-based strongly preferred.

This role requires meaningful in-person training and collaboration, especially early on. While flexibility exists over time, this is not intended to be a fully remote position.
