Junior Mechanical Engineer – Enfield, £40,000-45,000
We are currently working with a leading defence company, who are recruiting for a Junior Mechanical Engineer for their site in Enfield, North London. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, testing and maintaining mechanical structures to support the company’s products and services.
They world in the defence industry, so someone with a live SC Clearance is preferred, but would consider people who are open to it, and are clearable themselves.
What we are looking for:
- Ability to understand technical drawings, documentation, and product manufacturing processes
- Strong IT skills, particularly in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and database use
- Good technical writing skills
- Analytical mindset with strong numeracy and literacy abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
- Self-motivated, calm under pressure, and able to think creatively and proactively
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and make decisions independently
- Flexible approach to work, especially when working to tight deadlines
What you will be doing:
- Assisting with mechanical engineering development activities in line with company quality processes and procedures
- Supporting and improving the mechanical aspects of existing products to meet business requirements
- Producing drawings and documentation for engineering projects
- Assisting in estimating costs and timeframes for design projects
- Supporting the build and testing of prototypes for new equipment
- Implementing drawing changes as required
- Undertaking additional tasks as directed by senior management
- Occasional UK travel, sometimes at short notice
