We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Lab Automation Specialist in Toronto, ON (On-site) .

Responsibilities

  • Manage and schedule automation service activities, including request intake, development planning, and prioritization.
  • Maintain Kanban boards, Jira tickets, and lead weekly scrums to communicate progress and timelines.
  • Develop robotic protocols using VENUS 4+ for Hamilton liquid handlers.
  • Create and maintain SoftMax Pro protocols (non-GxP) with automated calculations, statistics, and reporting.
  • Program and integrate automation tools such as Green Button Go and Genera.
  • Apply knowledge of pharmaceutical/bio pharmaceutical QC testing (e.g., ELISA, protein assays).
  • Document user stories and programming notes; identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate technical processes into automated workflows.
  • Manage data outputs and file structures, ensuring data integrity and stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (preferred) in Science/Applied Science (robotics, mechanical engineering, or high-throughput assay development).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in laboratory automation, with strong expertise in Hamilton systems.
  • Proven success in optimizing resource usage and throughput through scalable automated liquid handling systems.
  • Expertise in automating complex liquid handling workflows using Hamilton systems, SoftMax Pro, and ELNs.
  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript for developing automation scripts and reducing manual tasks.
  • Strong mechanical skills in laboratory automation platforms, including liquid handlers and robotic equipment.
  • Experience integrating multiple instruments/devices into a single automated workflow.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, SQL/NoSQL databases, and system integration.

Note: Salary ranges from CAD 100,000 to 140,000 per year, depending on experience.
