About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of automated workflows for genomic assays. This role plays a critical part in enhancing assay robustness, workflow efficiency, and data quality within a highly collaborative lab environment.
In addition to automation development, you will support the full lifecycle of laboratory instruments, including evaluation, implementation, qualification, and ongoing maintenance in partnership with Facilities, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
5+ years of hands-on experience with laboratory automation systems
Strong expertise with Hamilton liquid handling platforms (Venus software preferred)
Experience with genomic workflows, immunology assays, and dPCR automation
Proven experience writing SOPs, validation reports, deviations, and CAPA documentation
Experience managing lab instrument lifecycle and CMMS systems
Ability to coordinate equipment purchasing, setup, qualification, and vendor interactions
Experience with cell therapy workflows (flow cytometry)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of cell therapy analytical development and manufacturing
Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies
Strong understanding of GMP regulations and regulated environments
Experience with AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar design tools
Familiarity with LIMS platforms (Benchling, Labguru, etc.) and integration with automation systems
Experience with CMMS tools such as Blue Mountain RAM, MasterControl, or Fiix
Understanding of end-to-end instrument lifecycle management and compliance documentation
