Our client, a pioneering AI research and development firm, is seeking an exceptional Lead AI Research Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join their groundbreaking team. This is an on-site position located in the vibrant tech hub of Houston, offering the opportunity to work alongside world-class researchers and engineers.
As a Lead AI Research Scientist, you will spearhead innovative research initiatives in NLP, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in machine learning and artificial intelligence. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art NLP models and algorithms to solve complex real-world problems. This role requires a deep theoretical understanding of AI/ML concepts, strong practical implementation skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of talented researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead research and development efforts in advanced NLP topics, including but not limited to, language understanding, generation, translation, and summarization. Design, implement, and evaluate novel deep learning models for NLP tasks using frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into products and services. Publish research findings in top-tier AI conferences and journals. Mentor and guide junior researchers and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and learning. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and NLP research. Contribute to the overall AI strategy and roadmap of the company. Analyze large datasets to extract insights and inform model development. Develop and maintain high-quality, well-documented code. Present research outcomes and technical strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, or a related field with a strong NLP focus. 5+ years of hands-on research experience in NLP and deep learning. Proven track record of publications in leading AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP). Expertise in Python and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch). Strong understanding of transformer architectures, RNNs, LSTMs, and other relevant NLP models. Experience with large language models (LLMs) and their applications. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to lead research projects and mentor junior team members. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
