Our client, a renowned automotive manufacturer with a significant presence in Miami, Florida, US , is seeking an experienced Lead Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and integration of complex electrical and electronic systems for their upcoming vehicle models. This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise in automotive electrical architectures, power distribution, wiring harness design, and the integration of various ECUs. You will lead a team of skilled engineers, providing technical direction and ensuring the successful implementation of innovative electrical solutions that meet performance, reliability, and cost targets. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of automotive communication protocols, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and functional safety standards. This role is essential for driving the technological advancement of our client's vehicles, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the industry.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of automotive electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, charging systems, and wiring harnesses. Define electrical architecture requirements and specifications for new vehicle platforms. Oversee the integration of various Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and ensure seamless communication between them using protocols like CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet. Develop and validate wiring harness designs, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct thorough analysis of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and implement strategies to meet industry standards. Ensure compliance with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) for electrical systems. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, software development, and manufacturing. Manage supplier relationships for electrical components and systems, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Perform system-level testing and validation, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions. Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers, fostering their technical growth. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in automotive electrical systems, such as high-voltage systems and advanced lighting solutions. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for project reviews. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical engineering department. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in automotive electrical systems engineering. Proven track record of successfully leading the design and development of automotive electrical architectures. In-depth knowledge of automotive communication networks (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet). Experience with automotive wiring harness design tools (e.g., WERS, Capital) and ECAD software. Strong understanding of power electronics, battery management systems, and charging technologies. Familiarity with EMC testing procedures and standards. Experience with ISO 26262 and other functional safety standards. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
