Job Description Summary: The Lead Casting Technology Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise for SX or equiax investment castings throughout the manufacturing process. You will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to solve complex issues, enhance manufacturability, boost productivity, and achieve business goals. This position entails managing supplier relationships, guiding teams on internal protocols, qualifying new suppliers, and assisting in the development of innovative casting technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver process and product leadership for the Castings commodity, particularly SX or equiax investment castings.
  • Work closely with suppliers to identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Act as a catalyst for excellence, promoting best practices and standard procedures across the supply chain.
  • Maintain and strengthen technical relationships with suppliers; mentor them on GE Aerospace processes, specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to perform thorough investigations into root causes and establish sustainable corrective measures.
  • Enhance manufacturability through effective design for casting, clear specifications, and improving process capabilities.
  • Regularly communicate updates, risks, challenges, and action plans to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Review and authorize significant/special processes while ensuring compliance with standards and qualification protocols.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Design Engineering teams to ensure that new and modified processes meet established metrics.
  • Work alongside suppliers and internal teams to ensure accurate interpretation of drawings/specifications, ensuring clarity and compliance.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers; lead technical qualifications and readiness reviews in Manufacturing and Quality Planning.
  • Foster solid relationships with casting supplier technical teams.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials/Metallurgy, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field).
  • At least 5 years of experience in materials engineering, castings, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

Desired Characteristics and Experience:

  • Experience with additive manufacturing and Metal Injection Molding (MIM).
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX or a similar CAD platform.
  • Experience in sand castings and titanium applications.
  • Significant expertise in investment casting (SX or equiax), demonstrated by improvements in yield, capability, and cost reduction.
  • Hands-on experience with the special processes of investment casting (wax, shell, melt/solidification control, heat treat, HIP, NDT) and specification compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction.
  • Ability to mature technologies and processes effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; proven ability to influence without direct authority.

Work Location and Travel: Typical travel: 30% - 50%. Remote options are available across the USA; required travel to Cincinnati, Ohio multiple times in the first 6 months for onboarding and training.

Pay and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $116,000.00 - $155,000.00. The specific salary offered may vary based on the candidate's experience, education, and work location. This position also includes eligibility for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan.
