A prestigious chemical manufacturing company in Denver, Colorado is seeking an accomplished Lead Chemical Process Engineer. This senior role is integral to optimizing and scaling our client's chemical production processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of new chemical processes, as well as troubleshoot and improve existing operations. This position demands a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, advanced process control, and hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of successfully leading engineering projects and teams.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products. Conduct feasibility studies and pilot plant trials for process development and scale-up. Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Perform mass and energy balances, heat transfer calculations, and fluid dynamics analysis. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact. Troubleshoot and resolve complex process-related issues in a manufacturing setting. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Lead and mentor junior chemical engineers and technical staff. Collaborate with R&D, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless process integration. Manage capital projects related to process equipment and modifications. Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in chemical engineering. Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, with a significant portion in a lead or supervisory role. Proven expertise in process design, scale-up, and optimization within a chemical manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, separation processes, and process control. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Proficiency in P&ID development and interpretation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong leadership, project management, and team collaboration abilities. Familiarity with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) regulations and best practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with specialty chemicals or advanced materials is a plus. This is an on-site position in Denver, Colorado .
