As the Lead Data and Analytics Engineer in our Reinsurance Data and Analytics team, you will play a pivotal role in creating powerful Analytics solutions that empower data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. You will work closely with various teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performance analytic environments while ensuring alignment with business objectives and data governance standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the architecture and implementation of enterprise BI frameworks, encompassing data models, dashboards, reports, and data gateways, while prioritizing performance, usability, and security.
- Collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to convert business requirements into scalable BI solutions, focusing on data modeling, DAX calculations, and visualization best practices while ensuring compliance with data governance standards.
- Providing expert knowledge in the Reinsurance domain related to data analytics.
- Architecting and managing the integration of Power BI with various data sources, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Databricks, and other cloud or on-premise data platforms.
- Defining analytic solutions utilizing Databricks, DBT, and Power BI.
- Establishing and enforcing development standards, governance policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, security, and maintainability across all reports and dashboards.
- Assisting in the deployment of Power BI in enterprise settings, including the management of data refresh schedules, security roles, and workspace governance.
- Identifying and resolving performance issues in data pipelines and queries, implementing strategies to optimize data processing and minimize latency in data delivery.
- Enhancing Power BI performance through the application of best practices in data modeling, query optimization, and report design.
- Creating comprehensive design documentation, deployment plans, and user guides.
- Staying up-to-date with Power BI innovations and industry best practices, recommending improvements to elevate reporting capabilities.
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the reinsurance domain, with a strong understanding of its data and reporting needs.
- 10+ years of experience in data analytics, including extensive experience in enhancing data and analytical capabilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing enterprise Power BI solutions, focusing on data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and visualization best practices.
- Strong proficiency in cloud data platforms such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, DBT, and their integration with Power BI.
- Knowledgeable about data governance, security, and compliance standards related to enterprise reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot complex data issues.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

- Proficiency in DAX, Power BI Service, Power BI Embedded, and Power BI REST APIs.
- Experience leveraging AI to facilitate Ad Hoc and Self-Service BI capabilities.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages to enhance Power BI functionalities.
- Knowledge of information security, data privacy, and cloud security best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
