Responsibilities

The TikTok Data Science team is responsible for all data science and analytics-related work, cooperating with all key value chains in TikTok, including User Growth, PGC, Content Ecosystem, Social, Creation, Product Infrastructure, Research and Science, etc. The goal of the team is to generate actionable insights from data and help stakeholders make the right decisions. Our main tasks include metrics defining, root cause analysis, experimentation methodology, feature/strategy evaluation, and exploratory analysis to find more opportunities.

The primary role of a Data Scientist for our Data team is to conduct deep analysis into user behavior, product features, and the content ecosystem to generate business insights that could be applied to actionable improvement initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, such as Product Management, Research and Development, and Machine Learning Engineering, to improve user experience and fulfill the growth of TikTok in all different scenarios.

What You'll Do

  • Work with large and complex data to solve technical and statistical challenges, and drive business impact.

Gain an in-depth understanding of the business logic and user demand scenarios within the Open Platform ecosystem (with a special focus on Mini Games and Short Dramas), assess the rationality and accuracy of the metric system based on business goals, and efficiently monitor and provide early warnings on business performance.

  • Collaborate with recommendation algorithms, product, and operations teams, analyze data to clarify current business issues based on project objectives, identify potential optimization directions for user experience, and provide effective data insights and momentum for overall business development.
  • Review and analyze the current issues in the platform and developer data pipeline, collaborate with business teams to push forward improvement plans, correct and optimize problems, and provide accurate data-driven decision support for business iteration.
  • Explore and summarize analytical methodologies, study analysis theories, and drive the iterative optimization of data products to improve analytical efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or related major.
  • 5+ years of relevant data analysis experience, proficient in SQL, Python, or R for data processing, familiar with basic statistical knowledge, and some experience in data-driven business.
  • Excellent logical thinking skills, capable of identifying, analyzing, and solving problems. Strong cross-department communication and collaboration abilities, and passionate about challenges.
  • Strong learning ability and curiosity, with a positive and proactive attitude. Approaches problems with rigor, capable of independently exploring and collaborating to solve issues, and possesses resilience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building a business or product from 0 to 1 is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the social media content industry (especially casual/mini-games) or short drama ecosystem is a strong plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion about social products and curiosity to deep dive.
  • Track record of driving business impact with data insights.
  • Master or Ph.D. Degree in a quantitative field.
  • Experience in product-side data analysis and Internet C-end app project experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with gaming, interactive entertainment, or developer platform business logic is a plus.
