Job Description

Our client, a pioneer in renewable energy technology, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in Power Electronics to join their fully remote engineering team. This position is crucial for the design, development, and optimization of advanced power conversion systems for next-generation energy storage and solar solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of power semiconductor devices, circuit design, control systems, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles. You will lead the technical direction for power electronics projects, from conceptualization through to production, ensuring high efficiency, reliability, and performance. Responsibilities include designing complex power converter topologies (e.g., DC-DC, DC-AC), performing detailed circuit simulations, developing control algorithms, selecting components, overseeing PCB layout and manufacturing, and guiding the testing and validation of prototypes. Collaboration with firmware engineers, mechanical engineers, and systems engineers is essential. The Lead Electrical Engineer will mentor junior engineers, contribute to patent applications, define technical roadmaps, and stay at the forefront of power electronics innovation. A Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience. Proven experience in designing high-power, high-efficiency converters is mandatory. Expertise in simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink) and schematic capture software is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently in a distributed team environment are critical. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation in the clean energy sector and contribute to sustainable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of advanced power electronic systems and converters. Develop innovative power conversion topologies (e.g., resonant converters, multi-level converters). Design and optimize power circuits using modern semiconductor technologies (SiC, GaN). Develop and implement control algorithms for power converters. Perform detailed circuit simulations and analyses using industry-standard tools. Select and specify power electronic components, including semiconductors, passives, and magnetics. Collaborate with firmware engineers on embedded control software development. Oversee PCB layout and assist with component placement for optimal performance and EMC. Design and execute test plans for power electronics hardware validation. Mentor junior electrical engineers and provide technical leadership. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power electronics and renewable energy technologies. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in power electronics design. Demonstrated experience designing high-power, high-efficiency power converters. Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink). Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools. Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices and their applications. Knowledge of control systems and digital signal processing. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
