Our client, a leading firm in the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems. This critical role involves the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical power systems for a variety of industrial and commercial applications. You will be responsible for leading engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring adherence to strict safety codes, industry standards, and project timelines. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, excellent leadership qualities, and a proven ability to manage intricate engineering challenges within the power generation and distribution domain. Responsibilities include:
Leading the design and engineering of high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical power systems, including substations, distribution networks, and protection schemes. Developing single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and control system logic. Performing load flow, short circuit, and stability studies using specialized software. Specifying electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, and motors. Overseeing the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems. Ensuring compliance with national and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE). Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and designers. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and project managers. Troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical issues in operational systems. Contributing to the development of project proposals and cost estimates.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred. Proven experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, SKM) and a strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution principles are essential. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills are required. Familiarity with renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies is a plus. This role requires significant on-site presence for project oversight and client interaction within the vibrant region of Miami, Florida, US .
