Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing, is seeking an experienced Lead Industrial Automation Engineer to join their innovative team in **Seattle, Washington, US**. This critical role involves the design, development, implementation, and optimization of automated systems and processes that drive efficiency and productivity in our manufacturing operations. You will lead a team of engineers, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to integrate cutting-edge automation solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in industrial automation, PLC programming, robotics, and system integration, coupled with proven leadership abilities.

Responsibilities: Lead the design and implementation of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, and motion control. Develop and maintain PLC code for various platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi). Oversee the integration of new automation equipment and technologies into existing manufacturing lines. Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity. Develop and execute testing plans for automation systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and operations, to define automation requirements and solutions. Manage automation projects from concept to completion, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior automation engineers and technicians. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, programming logic, and operational manuals. Stay current with the latest advancements in industrial automation technology and recommend adoption of new solutions. Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial automation engineering, with a strong focus on PLC programming and system integration. Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex automation projects. Proficiency with multiple PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Rockwell Automation). Experience with robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) and motion control systems. Strong understanding of HMI/SCADA software and industrial networking protocols. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various departments. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
