Overview

Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Composites) – Omega, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stand-out aerospace engineering business as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer in the development of aerospace components of a composite nature. As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll need to possess both understanding of composites materials and their properties and also have a strong manufacturing background including process and manufacturability improvements. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate key experience with composite materials, with experience in carbon composites being highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Authoring and approving manufacturing processes and process specifications
  • Lead on carbon composite and resin transfer molding processes (team of

3)

  • Be an engaging, supportive and motivational leader to a small but growing team of carbon composite manufacturing engineers
  • Champion and, in some cases, lead root cause analysis activities across the manufacturing
  • Creating and developing production techniques from raw material to finished product
  • Review and be the responsible approver of manufacturing work instructions
  • Provide training and support to manufacturing operatives to support changes in SOPs
  • Establish control plans and data collection means to monitor, gate and analyse critical input variables at defined control points in the manufacturing process
  • Be a key signatory and approver for business procedures and documentation
  • Actively contribute to improvements in key manufacturing metrics such as Throughput, Yield, Cycle Time & Defects-Per-Unit

Background / Qualifications

  • Strong background in carbon composite manufacture, resin transfer molding and NDT techniques
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering function
  • An understanding of engineering statistics
  • Influential to stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience with CAD packages
  • Knowledge of 3D printing from CAD and part production
