Job Schedule: 9/80 - work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

Under general direction, the Lead Material & Process Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating an in-depth understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices for energetic compositions, processing, and testing. The qualified employee works in the area of new technology to advance energetic applications, develops innovative approaches and testing, and communicates findings as part of an integrated product team.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides safe, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of chemical analysis techniques
  • Has full technical responsibility for planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects involving energetic materials within a broad range of chemical tests, analyses or syntheses
  • Conducts independent investigations involving the application of advanced principles of chemistry
  • Performs testing using advanced methods and analytical instrumentation
  • Consolidates results and prepares findings and recommendation documents
  • Travel requirements with up to 5% of travel expected

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Materials) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant Energetics and Propulsion experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong skills in mathematics
  • Experience in the use of multi-physics programs such as Comsol is a plus
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics desired
