Mechanical Engineering Lead – Data Centres

We’re supporting a rapidly scaling cloud infrastructure provider at the forefront of AI and high-performance computing, delivering next-generation, GPU-powered data centre environments.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Lead to take full ownership of mechanical strategy, design governance, and delivery across a growing portfolio of large-scale, mission-critical projects.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you’ll act as the technical authority for all mechanical engineering activities, driving standards, performance, and innovation across advanced cooling and infrastructure systems.
You’ll play a key role in shaping how high-density AI environments are designed and operated — with a strong focus on efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the mechanical discipline lead across all projects
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers
- Own mechanical design standards, specifications, and best practices
- Oversee design, validation, and integration of mechanical systems (air & liquid cooling, water systems, fire protection)
- Provide technical governance, reviews, and final approvals on engineering deliverables
- Collaborate cross-functionally with civil, structural, electrical, and project teams
- Lead constructability reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations
- Act as a key interface between engineering, manufacturing, QA/QC, and delivery teams
- Support client-facing technical discussions on complex systems
- Monitor evolving codes, standards, and industry trends
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (Texas preferred)
- 10+ years’ experience within data centres, industrial, or mission-critical environments
- Strong expertise in cooling systems (air and liquid) and water infrastructure
- Proven experience as a technical lead or discipline authority
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IBC, NFPA)
- Experience in system design, validation, and equipment integration
- Ability to lead technical risk assessments and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
