Lead Pharmaceutical Research Scientist

Our client, a globally recognized pharmaceutical company, is seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Pharmaceutical Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge R&D department in **Chicago, Illinois, US**. This role is pivotal in driving drug discovery and development initiatives, contributing to the creation of novel therapeutics. You will lead a team of talented scientists, focusing on pre-clinical research, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific strategy. Responsibilities include identifying promising drug targets, developing and optimizing assay methodologies, conducting in-vitro and in-vivo studies, and interpreting complex experimental data. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology) with a strong track record of research publications and successful project leadership in the pharmaceutical industry. Expertise in a specific therapeutic area (e.g., oncology, immunology, neuroscience) is highly desirable. You will be responsible for mentoring junior scientists, managing research projects, preparing scientific reports, and presenting findings at internal and external scientific forums. This position requires a deep understanding of drug discovery processes, regulatory requirements, and a passion for advancing scientific knowledge. Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of research scientists in drug discovery and development projects. Design and execute complex research experiments, including in vitro and in vivo studies. Develop and validate novel assays and methodologies relevant to therapeutic targets. Analyze and interpret experimental data, drawing meaningful conclusions and identifying next steps. Contribute to the strategic direction of research programs and identify new research opportunities. Prepare detailed research reports, protocols, and scientific publications. Present research findings to internal teams, cross-functional partners, and at scientific conferences. Collaborate with external partners, academic institutions, and contract research organizations (CROs). Ensure compliance with all relevant laboratory safety and regulatory guidelines. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral and industry research experience in drug discovery. Proven experience leading scientific research projects and teams. Extensive knowledge of drug discovery processes and mechanisms of action. Expertise in relevant therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, neuroscience, immunology). Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Excellent data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in various laboratory techniques and instrumentation. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
