Our client, a cutting-edge technology firm specializing in advanced power solutions, is seeking an experienced Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join their innovative R&D team in Phoenix, Arizona, US . This critical on-site role involves leading the design, development, and testing of high-performance power electronic systems for a variety of demanding applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in power electronics, coupled with extensive practical experience in circuit design, simulation, and hardware implementation. You will be responsible for driving technical innovation, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of state-of-the-art power conversion technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and validation of complex power electronic circuits and systems, including AC-DC converters, DC-DC converters, and inverters. Develop innovative solutions for power conversion topologies, control strategies, and thermal management. Perform detailed circuit simulations using industry-standard tools (e.g., SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink). Select appropriate components (MOSFETs, IGBTs, inductors, capacitors) and ensure their performance meets design requirements. Design and implement control algorithms for power converters, focusing on efficiency, stability, and transient response. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for prototype and production hardware. Troubleshoot and resolve design and performance issues encountered during development and testing. Collaborate closely with firmware engineers, mechanical engineers, and product managers to achieve project goals. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power semiconductor devices, passive components, and converter topologies. Mentor and guide junior power electronics engineers, fostering their technical development. Contribute to the development of intellectual property through innovation and patent applications. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and certifications. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal reviews and external stakeholders. Qualifications: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems. Deep understanding of power converter topologies, control theory, and semiconductor devices. Proficiency in circuit simulation software and schematic capture tools. Experience with PCB layout considerations for high-power applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to debugging and validation. Excellent understanding of thermal management principles for power electronic components. Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based control is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
