Job Description

Our client, a major player in the chemical industry, is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Process Engineer specializing in petrochemicals to join their facility in **Dallas, Texas, US**. This role is critical for optimizing existing processes, designing new production units, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in chemical engineering principles, extensive experience in petrochemical operations, and a proven track record of driving process improvements. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes for petrochemical production, focusing on efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Perform process simulations, feasibility studies, and economic evaluations for new projects and process modifications. Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications. Troubleshoot complex process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Ensure all designs and operations comply with industry regulations, safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA), and environmental policies. Collaborate with project managers, engineers from other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation), and construction teams throughout project lifecycles. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and process technicians. Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies, and ensure mitigation strategies are implemented. Evaluate new technologies and process innovations to enhance production capabilities and reduce operational costs. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and conduct operator training.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field; Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the petrochemical industry. In-depth knowledge of petrochemical processes such as cracking, reforming, polymerization, and separation. Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics. Experience with P&ID development, equipment sizing, and material selection. Proven ability to conduct and lead PHAs and risk assessments. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience mentoring technical staff. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
