Our client, a global leader in specialty chemicals, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Process Engineer to join their esteemed team in **New York City, New York, US**. This is a critical role responsible for the design, optimization, and implementation of chemical processes that are at the forefront of innovation. You will play a key part in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our manufacturing operations. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting complex process issues, conducting feasibility studies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong background in chemical reaction engineering, separation processes, and process control. You will lead projects from conceptualization through to successful commissioning, working collaboratively with research and development, operations, and safety departments. This position demands exceptional problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to adhering to the highest industry standards. Responsibilities include developing P&IDs, equipment specifications, and process safety documentation. You will also be involved in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the technical development of the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing product lines. Lead process engineering projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution. Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety improvements. Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues related to chemical processes. Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment specifications. Collaborate with R&D to scale up laboratory processes to pilot and commercial scale. Implement process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality and yield. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior process engineers. Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in chemical engineering. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical industry. Proven experience in process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities.
