Our client, a pioneering firm at the forefront of aerospace innovation, is seeking an exceptional Lead Propulsion Systems Engineer to drive the design, development, and testing of next-generation rocket engines. This critical role, based out of our advanced research facility, offers the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that will shape the future of space exploration. You will lead a team of talented engineers, manage project lifecycles, and ensure the reliability and performance of complex propulsion systems.
Responsibilities: Lead the conceptualization, design, and analysis of advanced rocket propulsion systems. Oversee the development and validation of propulsion system components and sub-systems. Manage engineering projects from concept through to production and testing, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets. Conduct performance analysis, simulations, and testing of propulsion systems and components. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, testing, and program management. Develop and implement robust testing procedures and analyze test data to identify performance improvements and anomalies. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements. Author and review technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and peer reviews. Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges related to propulsion systems. Stay current with the latest technological advancements in aerospace propulsion. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, development, and testing of rocket propulsion systems. Proven leadership experience managing engineering projects and teams. In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, combustion, and heat transfer. Proficiency with CFD and FEA software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, SolidWorks Simulation). Experience with various propulsion technologies (e.g., chemical, electric). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly. Experience with cryogenic propellants and high-pressure systems is a plus. Familiarity with systems engineering principles and practices.
