Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Lead Research Scientist specializing in Material Science to spearhead innovative research and development initiatives in **Dallas, Texas, US**. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader with a proven track record in materials discovery, characterization, and application. You will guide a team of scientists and engineers, drive cutting-edge research projects, and contribute significantly to the company's intellectual property and product pipeline. The ideal candidate possesses a strong academic background, extensive hands-on laboratory experience, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of material innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage research projects focused on the development of novel materials with specific performance characteristics. Design and execute experimental plans for material synthesis, fabrication, and characterization. Utilize advanced analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, FTIR, DSC, TGA) to evaluate material properties and performance. Interpret complex experimental data, draw insightful conclusions, and develop robust scientific theories. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, and manufacturing, to translate research findings into viable products. Mentor and guide junior scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance research environment. Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape in material science. Identify and pursue new research opportunities, contributing to the company's innovation strategy and intellectual property portfolio. Develop and maintain detailed experimental protocols, research reports, and technical documentation. Present research findings at scientific conferences and to internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations and best practices. Manage laboratory resources, equipment, and consumables effectively. Contribute to the strategic direction of the R&D department. Establish and maintain relationships with external academic institutions and research partners. Drive the optimization and scale-up of promising material formulations for commercial application. Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. 8+ years of post-doctoral or industrial research experience in material science. Demonstrated expertise in at least one key area such as polymers, composites, nanomaterials, ceramics, or metallurgy. Extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of material characterization techniques. Proven ability to lead research projects, manage technical teams, and drive innovation from concept to application. Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and experience presenting at international conferences. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts clearly. Experience with intellectual property (IP) generation and patent processes is highly desirable. Proficiency in data analysis and scientific visualization software. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment. Experience with scale-up and manufacturing considerations for materials is a plus. Strong understanding of structure-property relationships in materials.
