This role is posted on behalf of Synthium, a startup supported by SGInnovate.
Background
Synthium is a robotics and Embodied AI venture building systems that capture human cognition through interactive simulation. We transform multimodal human behavior into structured datasets used to train next generation robotics foundation models. We are looking for a Lead Robotics Engineer to help us drive the technical direction of our robotics simulation and embodiment stack.
Job scope
The Role
- Lead the robotics simulation architecture powering Synthium’s data generation and training pipeline
- Collaborate directly with founders and research collaborators to design systems that bridge simulation, teleoperation, embodiment, and dataset generation for humanoid and mobile robots
- Set technical direction, make architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers as the team scales.
What You’ll Own
- Define and evolve the robotics simulation stack across Isaac Sim-Lab platform and MuJoCo
- Architect cloud-scalable simulation pipelines for large scale dataset generation
- Design teleoperation and human-in-the-loop integration systems
- Oversee dataset lifecycle for multimodal imitation learning and reinforcement learning workflows
- Drive technical decisions across control, perception, policy learning, and evaluation frameworks
- Establish best practices in AI-robotics software architecture, simulation fidelity, and reproducibility
- Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring as the robotics team grows
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years in robotics, simulation, or embodied systems
- Exposure to recent foundation models in the robotics, world modeling space, VLMs/VLAs
- Deep Python expertise; write production-ready code mindset
- Experience with robotics simulation environments
- Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Experience leading projects or technical teams
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaping early stage direction
Nice to Have
- Comfortable learning across disciplines and subdomains, from 3D Graphics to data pipelines, from teleoperation to cloud systems and Machine Learning
- Experience with humanoid robotics
- ROS2 experience preferred
- Experience with teleoperation systems
Compensation
- In addition to salary, this role includes meaningful equity participation aligned with the long-term growth of the company.
This role sits at the intersection of scalable cloud technologies involving: robotics simulation, multimodal data workflows-lifecycle, deployable Embodied AI-ML pipelines, and advancing Humanoids for the betterment of society.
