Lead Software / Data Engineer, US-headquartered global hedge fund

A leading US-headquartered global hedge fund is seeking a Lead Software / Data Engineer to join its high-performing team in Singapore.

Salary range: SGD250,000-300,000 base + Total comp up to $400,000

This is a senior individual contributor role focused on designing and building scalable data and software solutions that underpin critical investment and trading workflows. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and technical ownership, partnering closely with global stakeholders.

The role requires strong expertise in Python, Linux, and SQL, with exposure to distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) highly advantageous. Experience working with modern cloud ecosystems—particularly AWS/Azure and Databricks—is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will bring 7–12+ years of experience, with a strong computer science foundation and prior exposure to financial markets (buy-side, sell-side, banking, or fintech environments). Beyond technical depth, you will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment in areas such as vendor data quality, system design trade-offs, and platform evolution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning and architecting core data pipelines and systems, including the build-out of a next-generation security master
• Leading greenfield development initiatives while also modernizing and optimizing legacy infrastructure
• Acting as a technical lead and decision-maker on data architecture, tooling, and engineering best practices
• Collaborating with global teams to integrate advanced analytics and AI-driven capabilities

Requirements:

• Expert in Python
• Experience working in a trading environment, preferably on the buy side
• Experience in spacing with quants or portfolio managers
