Lead Windows Systems Engineer - Quant Trading - NYC - Exceptional Compensation
Durlston Partners is working with an elite Quant Trading firm in New York. You’ll join an elite team of technologists in a relaxed, tech-first environment that values engineering purity and heavy automation over corporate bureaucracy.
As the Lead Windows Engineer, you will own the firm’s entire Windows ecosystem. This is a high-impact role bridging ultra-fast, bare-metal on-premise trading infrastructure with modern cloud environments, treating configuration management as a first-class engineering discipline.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise Windows infrastructure across both on-prem environments and the cloud (Azure/AWS).
- Drive aggressive automation initiatives to eliminate manual toil using advanced scripting and configuration management tools.
- Architect scalable, highly available systems tailored to the rigorous latency and throughput demands of systematic trading.
- Act as the senior technical authority, mentoring engineers and partnering with quants to remove infrastructure bottlenecks.
What They’re Looking For
- Enterprise Leadership: Proven track record as a Lead/Senior Windows Engineer in a complex, large-scale environment (trading/HFT experience is a massive plus).
- Automation & Scripting: Expert-level proficiency in PowerShell (Python is a bonus) to automate complex deployments.
- Core Infrastructure: Deep expertise in Windows Server internals, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and virtualization.
- Hybrid Cloud & Config: Strong commercial experience managing on-prem and cloud setups, alongside tools like Ansible, Terraform, or SCCM.
