Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Liquid Financing Rapid Application Developer. You will be primarily working across multiple systems supporting the trading desks within the Barclays Liquid Financing division in the APAC region. This business is at the forefront of industry leading innovative client focused solutions using big data and financial modelling. You will be required to convert evolving business and trade ideas into tactical medium-term solutions. You should have securities industry experience within IT infrastructure, worked in a fast pace iterative manner, worked closely with front office quantitative analytics and IT teams. The job entails putting together robust proof of concepts using Python, SQL or Excel VBA.

To be successful in this role, you must have below:

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or related engineering field.
  • Extensive experience in computer programming using scalable technologies such as Python, Excel VBA, SQL, Java, C# or Angular.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in all phases of software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent experience in a Rapid Application Development environment
  • Knowledge of Prime Finance products and data flows
  • Good Financial industry IT experience (Buy or Sell side)
  • Knowledge and experience of data structures, algorithms and general problem solving is required.
  • Comfortable facing off directly to users.
  • Capable of driving a project from end to end

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with enterprise wide scalable strategic systems from design to development and pricing of financial instruments
  • Willing to work and develop ideas independently, be a responsible and a contributing team player and to continually evolve software
  • Exposure to Data Science discipline
  • Should be open and willing to learn new technologies
  • Investment Bank FO experience
  • Degrees in Finance, CFA, FRM or currently pursuing studies in these disciplines

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
