Position Overview
Join the team at DoorDash as a passionate Machine Learning Engineer. In this role, you will conceptualize, design, implement, and validate algorithmic improvements powering cutting‐edge machine learning models for our growing grocery and retail delivery business. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team, reporting to the engineering manager on the New Verticals ML team in a hybrid (in-office and remote) setting.
Compensation: The base salary range is location-specific (California, New York, Washington: $140,100—$210,100 USD). Actual compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience, and work location, with additional opportunities for equity grants.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop production machine learning solutions to address recommendation, search, logistic optimization, and product knowledge graph challenges.
- Partner with engineering, product, and business strategy leaders to shape an ML-driven product roadmap for a multi-billion dollar retail delivery business.
- Leverage diverse data sources, intuitive models, and flexible experimentation to enhance the consumer shopping journey and optimize fulfillment.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of industry experience post-PhD or 3+ years post-graduate experience in developing machine learning models with business impact.
- Proficiency with machine learning methods in recommendation systems, search, causal inference, optimization, time series analysis, natural language processing, large language models, or computer vision.
- Strong background in Python along with experience using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
- M.S. or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or another quantitative field.
